Abstract
A clinical study of colo-rectal cancer was done over one hundred and twenty two patients which had been diagnosed histologically and treated surgically from January, 1958 to December, 1965 at Severance Hospital, Yonsei Medical Center. Clinico-patholgical analysis of the experiences and follow-up studies are the basis of this paper.

The objectives of this paper is to evaluate the practical situations of carcinoma of colon and rectum in surgery and its clinical behaviour in Korea. Several points are empbasized on the report regarding the lower incidence in comparison with the occident. and follow up studies.
Among 122 cases, 75 cases (61.5%) were carcinoma of rectum and 47 cases (38.5%) were carcinoma of colon. The sex distribution assumed a ratio of 1.8: 1 with ¢¥079 males and 43 females. And age range in majority of the patient was between 50-59(36.1%), the youngest was 22 year old and the oldest was 83 year of age.

Histologically, adenocarciroma involved 114 cases (93.5%) and squamous cell carcinoma 1 case. (0.8%). Sarcomas involved 7 cases (5.7%) and it is rather high incidence than the occidental statistics.
Among 122 patients, 100 cases were underwent surgery and operability was 82.1%. 118 operations were performed on the 100 patients and resectability was 58% among which curative resection was 40.3%. In the cases of carcinoma of rectum, 49 cases (41.5%) were underwent Miles¢¥ operation and recently Extended Miles¢¥ Operation was performed to seven cases.
There were four hospital deaths in this series and hospital mortality rate was. 3.28%.

Follow up was successful only in 82 cases, 67.2%, varying in types of surgery. The follow up results was the basis cf post-operative survival rate. The over all 5 year survival rate was obtained in 50%.
